Confidentiality
Counselling provides a safe, confidential, environment for the client to talk about any issues which may be causing them difficulties. I adhere to the professional ethical guidelines of the IACP. Only in exceptional circumstances, where there is a legal or ethical obligation, would I breech confidentiality. Examples may be:
- Where the counsellor has strong reason to believe that the client is at risk of harming themselves, or others.
- Where the counsellor is subpoenaed by the Courts, to disclose information.
- Where there may be issues of Child Protection concerns.
